Belgian designer Anthony Vaccarello amazes me for the strong note of masculinity he was able to inject in a femme fatale Fall/Winter wardrobe. I love the military vibe and total monochrome looks which are highly demonstrated by the navy satin suiting pieces, blouson jackets, high-waisted pants, buttoned up shirts in addition to the touch of metallic details including zippers, belts and accessories.

The contradictory effect of masculinity and femininity throughout Vaccarello’s Fall/Winter 2012-2013 collection brings upon a special edge to the brand. The artist creatively innovated a tailoring marriage between the slick total ensemble and the glamourous 50s lingerie design for evening wear. He successfully did so by introducing asymmetrical jumpsuits and long dresses (strapless on one side/vest’s sleeve on the other) as well as micro length daring outfits.

Stella McCartney definitely showed us that the vibrant coloured eyelashes are back. Not only did I love the 70s’ vibe makeup touch but I was amazed at how her beautiful electric blues, materials, colours and details perfectly blended throughout the designs of the collection.

Several coats of an electric bright blue pigmented mascara were used for a fresh and natural beauty which ultimately matched Stella’s collection. The young and fresh look is the one to aim for and this is why blue lashes perfectly fit in when wearing very natural and discrete makeup enhancing facial features: light blush and lipgloss are just enough.

Don’t worry, the chances of you looking like a teenager in her punk phase are very low and on the contrary, blue mascara could be a great alternative to copper black mascara as it has great ways of opening up your eyes and making your eye-colour stand out (especially with light-coloured eyes – blues and greens).

April 2012 will undoubtedly be a significant month for Cartier as it will celebrate the rebirth of the « Juste un Clou » collection as announced in the US Harper’s Bazaar March issue.

Why rebirth ? The talented Roman jewelry designer Aldo Cipullo who designed the infamous and iconic Love bracelet, additionally innovated this « nail » ring shortly after joining Cartier in 1969. The overwhelming success of Cartier’s Love bracelet involuntarily pushed the Clou innovation in the Love fame’s shadow. Cartier introduces us back to discover the modern insight of the « Juste un Clou » collection : two sized bracelets (an extra-large and a thin model) as well as the ring available in yellow gold, rose gold, and white gold, unadorned or paved with diamonds – all of them shaping a nail in the form of a spiral around the finger or wrist.

Will “Juste un Clou” take over Love’s symbolic eminence? Wait for April and see!

Crystal embellished dresses, beaded lace and feather fringes brightened up the faces of Prabal Gurung’s Fall 2012.

The collection started with a flow of all-black looks followed by tones of vibrant blues and punctuated with a series of whites, ivories, golds and metallics. Flared trousers, cascading ruffles, sheers, prints, fur coats, straight-leg pants and geommetrical capes have illuminated the runway, “It’s less about obvious embroidery and more about fabric, texture, and the depth within the print”, the designer explains.

Gurung’s FW12/13 designs appeared as lovely successions of disconnected collections tracing a wide range of styles and moods for the season. Beautiful!

1969 celebrated the birth of the inspirational Cartier Love bracelet. As part of Cartier’s How Far would you go for Love? campaign, the worldwide top 1 jeweler gave green lights to the French electro band AIR for an exclusive project revolving around love fusion. The four minute video clip goes by the name of Painted Love and depicts the obsession of an artist by his muse, allowing his imagination to drive infatuation and art beyond limits. The painter follows the young lady in the streets of New York before letting her fuse in his masterpiece. Sharp and inventive, Painted Love broke new grounds for the timeless Love bracelet.

New York City’s liveliness finally meets the city of lights at the opening of the W hotel, February 14th. Located at the heart of Paris with stunning views on the Opera Garnier, the hotel is just a walk away from Parisian luxury and cultural playgrounds.
